[Surrogate's Blog]
A day without surrogate, is like any other day, except... without surrogate.Confessions of a snot.

Good morning Boys and Girls.I am a snot.
I am.
Some of you know this already. Some of you have suspected it for years, but have held your opinions in check. Let me assure you, you are right. Some of you think that since I end my posts with the phrase "Be good to everyone," that I ought to never say anything that anyone will find the least bit disturbing and that if I do, I am a hypocrite.
Fine.
I weigh things. When and if I see or read that people are publishing opinions that promote the sort of policies or attitudes that either are, or will be, detrimental to the overall good of mankind, I call them on it.
It's that simple.
Some people find that offensive. After all, who am I to voice such opinions? -especially if I'm someone who would like to see a better world out there? Why should I create ripples?
Well, cuz I think I should. It's that simple.
I don't really care if I'm liked, or respected personally. It would be nice to have everyone think I'm a great guy, but that's never in the cards for anyone, especially someone who puts his or her thoughts out there for others to read - as all of us do to some extent.
When I see things that simply don't make sense, especially if they're said with an authority based on reading or listening to goof-ball sources, while ignoring more reputable ones, or if they are made citing the authority of some religious belief that may or may not have ANY bearing in reality - since, and this is simply fact, NO ONE has a corner on "the truth" despite some claiming in confidence that they may have things figured out - I do my best to point out what I see as folly.
Does this mean I think I'm always right? Nope. But I do know that I don't have to be exactly right to know when someone else is obviously off the mark, or sometimes, completely bonkers.
To me, sometimes, "being good to everyone" involves what might feel, to some, as me being snotty to individuals. Oh well.
Here I thought about citing a dozen instances of what I'm talking about, but I don't think it's necessary, and wouldn't placate those who've been offended anyway - plus it would make for one long doozy of a post.
So it goes.
Regardless, I am, admittedly, a snot.
Be good to everyone.

I promise, I'm not worried about it. You must have hopped aboard early here to get "Mark." Never let it go.... Can't have a better handle than your own name.

Hi sur Snot.
It often amazes me how we as people perceive one another.
For example politicians seem to illustrate this perfectly, Some politicians to me appear to talk dribble and seem slimey and elusive with words and then people whom i like and respect will state boldly that the same politician whom i dislike is a real good guy.
Personally I think if you are going to use an open Blog you have to take on all comers.
(If you are too sensitive step away from the keyboard and only look at the screen),
And then again half the fun of these blogs is generating comments.
If your ruffling a few feathers i wouldn't worry about it. we can't all be yes men!
PS In my Migration from TBlog I,ve been detanracnier (reincarnated) from a Skram 1000 to a mere Mark.

It's not something I'd normally call myself, but I've been called the name by a couple of readers at my home blog recently. Seems fair to accept the description.

For some reason, even when I was a kid, I disliked the word "snot". I have been known to say things people take offense to; but I've never been referred to by that word. When I was young, being called that was worse than being called a "brat". I guess I would refer to myself as being "opinioned" - at times. To each, their own. We'll all entitled to our opinions.

It's funny you would write this. I've been thinking recently about the tug of war I have between my fear of disapproval and my desire to stand up for what I believe in.
I totally call people on stuff that is detrimental to mankind and stuff that I absolutely find offensive...I would hope people would call me on stuff if I act like an idiot for no good reason...but I don't generally write about inflammatory topics :D. I'm all for comments, good and bad, when they relate directly to the post. What gets me is when I post something about my favorite apples (for example, LOL) and John or Jane Doe comes along and leaves a comment about how their oranges are rotten. Basically it bugs me when people veer off the subject of my post and leave a comment that is completely irrelevant to what I posted.
So if you're a snot then I'm a bitch. Personally, I think it's the coolest when you leave comments on my blog...I love snots!

I get what you're saying but, I've obviously missed something? Anyhooo, it's OK to be a snot, I kind of like it when you get all, righteous and everything ;)
You Go!
